Lynchburg, VA-- StarTek has won a gold medal in the category “Best Community Spirit” from the 2009 Contact Center World Awards. The gold medal was awarded from call center entries from both North and South America. This is the third consecutive year the Lynchburg site has been recognized, earning a gold medal in 2008 and a silver medal in 2007. The gold medal was awarded to StarTek after the top 5 call centers presented their community relations programs June 2-4 in Toronto.
“Brenda Nash, senior operations manager from Lynchburg was responsible for the winning presentation, said Rob O’Leary, Lynchburg StarTek site director. “The presentation described our social responsibility program StarTek Cares. This winning presentation featured StarTek employees, community leaders and individuals from the organizations we supported.”
Lynchburg employees volunteered 3,234 community service hours, worked with 18 different local organization and charities, and raised $37,205 in 2008. Over the past 3 years employees in Lynchburg have volunteered 8,397 hours in the local community and raised $135,493 for charity.
“Giving back to the community is part of our corporate culture,” continued O’Leary. “We spend hours planning StarTek Cares for each year. We get employee feedback on the organizations they would like to support and we also have several programs such as Relay for Life and a food drive for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank that we support annually. All Employee participation is voluntary, this accomplishment reflects what a motivated generous employee base focused on making a difference can achieve."
The 2009 Top Performers Awards recognize the very best in the contact center industry from North and South America. Over a thousand applicants had applied for the 2009 program and the best were shortlisted and invited to present at the unique event in Toronto this week.
StarTek was also recognized for two other awards. Adam Charof, a customer account manager at StarTek in Lynchburg was a top five finalist and received the runner up award for Best Sales Agent. Geoff Lustig also from Lynchburg was recognized at the event for his work in the Best Contact Center Supervisor category.
